Pulley noise

Post by nolig2278 »

I think i have found my problem which seems to be some clicking within the water pump pulley area.

I have been running my BPT with the timing belt upper cover off and I now see that there is a small hole where a shaft is spinning. This shaft runs to the top pulley. How long would one expect this to last if it just started making a clicking noise.

I think my water pump might be getting ready to go to. There is a loud "clanging" type noise coming from the pulleys... and iI have a belt slipping. A good way to test if it is your water pump is to take off the belts and grab the pulley and tug around on it, you should be able to feel if the bearings are going bad and such. Anyways if your looking for a cheap remanufactured model just check out AutoZone.

the bolt on the crank is like any standard bolt, counter-clockwise to loosen. if you have a manual transmission, have a friend put the car into gear and then hold the brake, this will stop the crank from rotating while you are loosening the bolt.

if the store doesn't have one they could probably order one for you.

make sure you use a breaker bar or torque wrench to get your crank pully bolt out...it's really tight, like 120 ft/lbs or something like that.
