Borla or Magnaflow?

Post by MX3newbie77 »

Alright, I will be doing a KL-ZE swap when it warms up a little and I'm starting to gather parts now. I already have the SSAutoChrome headers sitting in my room. I will be ordering a 2.50" Magnaflow High-Flow Cat and 2.50" stainless steel pipe for sure. Now I want peoples opinions on which muffler, glasspack, etc...

I am looking for a tuned sounding exhaust that isn't that lound until you really get on it. I kinda squashed the idea of Supersprint after hearing it on their website and really narrowed it down to Borla and Magnaflow. A friend of mine said use a 18" flowtech glasspack right after the headers and then run piping to the cat to another 18" glasspack to a muffler to a tip. He said the glasspacks should act as resonators. If anyone has sound clips of an exhaust system then please post. Thanks.

I have a magna flow with glass pack on my 1.8 and tis a good deep tone, definetly get the glass pack becasue with out it its way too loud in the car.
I have a sound clip but i dont have it online. I will see if i can get around to put it on the web and link it.

the exhaust sounds very loud around 2-3000 rpm and is progressively quieter from there. Tone is aournd 30 htz and lower from what i can see from the equilizer in winamp

Alright, so I'm almost 100% set on Magnaflow. The only question is get a straight-through muffler like the muscle cars, or a street or race style?

Straight-through style:

Street or race style:
