Post by Nd4SpdSe »

Well, i finally dragged 2nite, man, it was a great experience and loved every minute of it.

i shifted at 7000, didnt try 7300, was too nervous, didnt wanna break anything, but ever since i did my KLZE swap, its been harder to shift, so when i can fix that, it should help
My launches were at 2000-2500rpm, my last run i tried 3000, i was faster, but hopped the car. So i fogure if i can start off a little higher, just high enough to eliminate teh hops, i should gain quite a bit, considering im not starting off in my power band
I have no idea why ma trap speed is soo low, wait, which ones the trap speed?

no it doesn't, try slipping the clutch and lauching at 5k and don't let off the gas between 1st + 2nd, ride every gear to 7500 it is faster ( i have worked it out and when i shifted at 6500 i lost time)
if you bring your 60' down to 2.2 you should run 14's
nice runs, we are racing at st.thomas on sun sept.12 with hopfully a 12 sec, probe gt, some 12 sec talons and silvias
drop tire pressure to 20-15 psi and see how it helps
[ September 13, 2003: Message edited by: aaron the hic ]

I will, and i cant wait to do it again...its so much funner than video games!
Also, since i knew i was going, my goal was for sub 16sec times, my first 2 kinda pissed me off cause i as soo close, and was worried that thats the fastest i would be able to do, but that 15.8 really made me happy
[ September 13, 2003: Message edited by: Nd4SpdSe ]

you know our engines love the redline right? I take mine up to 7300 + at least once a day, it makes the shift into the next gear higher in the powerband..makes a huge difference. Maybe if your serious about improving spend some nice money on some toyo proxies ....

you got pics of them...sounds tempting but im in a temporary financial rutt, and cant afford anything that expensive..BTW, what do you use or dragging, rims wise? I'm guessing drag tires? What do you use on your rears?
Also, do you guys actually hit 5th gear when dragging? I get very close to redline in 4th when ending the 1/4 mile
[ September 13, 2003: Message edited by: Nd4SpdSe ]

I know you didnt ask for any help, and I am sorry to offer it if you already know this.
I had the exact same times my first time out with my KLZE, what helped me was this, 2.5 inch exhaust with no cat and Hign flow muffler, I also ran with nothing but my VAF, no filter or filter box or lid. Also putting Ice on the intake manifold to cool it down between runs lets you gain some good time.
running to red line wont help because you engine cant breath at 7000 RPM because the k8 and small exhaust are choaking off the air flow into and out of the engine.
sorry if you already knew this, I hate it when people give me advice on my car when I dont ask for it.
