brake shoes Help

i lost the little clip that that seperates the brake shoes....is that mandatory to replace or can i live without it?...if i need it where can i find a replacement?

93 gs 1.8ltr

Mine corroded into 2 pieces. Had to get a pair from Mazda. Can't remember how much but wasn't very much though-just a few bucks. You can live without em but then your pads will constantly ride on the disks which can be an annoying sound and can shorten the life of the pads.

appreciate ur help will check into my local mazda, one last thing to to replace the brake fluid i should use the dot3?
