i lost the little clip that that seperates the brake shoes....is that mandatory to replace or can i live without it?...if i need it where can i find a replacement?

Mine corroded into 2 pieces. Had to get a pair from Mazda. Can't remember how much but wasn't very much though-just a few bucks. You can live without em but then your pads will constantly ride on the disks which can be an annoying sound and can shorten the life of the pads.
