WRX turbo...

Post by Shady469 »

i was snooping around and noticed that the turbos on the WRXs are IHI and are a part of the VJ series...
wouldnt that be fun on a B6T or BPT? :)
but it'll probably take all kinds of modding to get to fit...
oh well just a thought.

Modding? The turbo? They're universal bro. You'd just have to customize a mounting flange and downpipe.

You would need either a new flange or new manifold. Be aware that the majority of turbos available on Subaru cars are smaller than your stock turbo.

i think id stick to getting a super 16g (thanks to advice from chris and ashley(guy):P). they will give you better numbers and will net you better power. just get a manifold from larsens motorsports and tell them to make it for whatever turbo you decide on.

Big 16G on BP is going to net HUGE power.

big 16g, 20g, med. t3, big t3, t-25, t3/t04e...which is best for small displacement(bpt) with big numbers, and still street performance oriented as well????
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Most Miatae owners are running either the t3/to4e or a 16G for big power. Ric's hi-po kit includes the 16G. Honestly the 16G and Big 16G are very well mated to both the 1.6l and 1.8l B series motors. The vj13/14/6 turbos run 190cfm, 16g is up to 500cfm...big jump in performance. T25 are known as T-too small and in most cases will limit you to the 200whp range. T28 is a good all around street turbo, most can net 250-300whp, some are even higher. Only the 16G series and T3/T04 hybrids are able to manage boost in the 300whp range and higher at an efficient rate while still providing decent spool up. Drag racing requires the larger turbo, if you do autox, go with the T28 for power on demand.

One thing I read about the WRX Turbo is that it doesn't have a downpipe. It has a up pipe instead. At least that's what one of the issues of sport compact stated.
