Do I need a different clutch with a KL swap?
Do I need a different clutch with a KL swap?
I'm getting a KL-ZE and I was thinking that I should get a new clutch at the same time. The current clutch feels pretty week and I figure having the clutch changed as the engines are swappped should save some money on the labour.
So the question is can I use a clutch meant for the 1.8L V6 MX-3 with the 2.5L KL-ZE engine or do I need an MX-6 clutch?

------------------
dorin@canada.com

Re: Do I need a different clutch with a KL swap?

I'm going to to get mine machined down to 13lbs
Happy Motoring
------------------
Clear White 2.5L GSR
Re: Do I need a different clutch with a KL swap?
I'm pretty sold on the aftermarket clutch idea. My question is whether I can order a clutch for a 1.8L MX-3 and fit it to the 2.5L engine or do I need to order a clutch for a 2.5L MX-6/Probe instead?

I have a clutch for a MX-6 2.5L in my MX-3 right now [1.8L]. Heh, actually now I have a MX-6 tranny too, but at any rate the ACT clutch for the MX-6 V6 will work on any V6 MX-3.
------------------
David Coleman- Moderator
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
Wu Name

I you can run the MX-6 ACT clutch with ANY V6 MX-3. No matter what engine or tranny you have [assuming its not an automatic that is]. ANY TRANSMISSION AND ANY V6 ENGINE.
clear?
------------------
David Coleman- Moderator
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
V6 engine info | KL FAQ | ECU reprogramming | K series Image cache | Probetalk Archive Search
