Miata is very well known, just not popular with the younger crowd. There are over 20000 members on miataforum.net alone.

I noticed that myself. But the SE car almost looks like a seperate car to me. I've always liked the Miatas anyway, so I'm glad that I could finally afford one, and was lucky enough to find the rare SE version!

Insurance on a Miata is a killer. Even if a younger person can afford the car, affording the car and insurance is much more difficult.

Insurance is not bad. I just got it done last night. I am insuring my MX-3 with no collision or comp at $100K/300K levels, and the Miata with $500 deductable on both collision and comp also at $100K/300K levels. My 6mo. premium is $519 through Geico.

Unfortunatey the Mazdaspeed Miata coming out next year that you speak of is out of my price range. I don't know how much it will be yet, but I bet close to $30K. :-(

You're right, that's not bad at all. I guess living so close to New Jersey jacks my insurance rates.
