Post by Shady469 »

Off of what other cars will the MAF meter fit onto my 92 SOHC. I heard the 87 RX-7... any others? The DOHC MX-3?
Also, i just got some 16" rims and now i wanna lower my car. Ground control was recommended by a friend w/ a CRX. any others?

hey man whats up? i saw all the hub bub u caused in the forced induction forum :P
I pretty much decided on just boosting (NOS) mine and saving up for a 3rd generation RX-7 in need of a motor.
So you think those Weapon R coilovers work just as well? how much did you drop yours?
thanx man

Personally, i would suggest against either the Weapon R or the Ground Controls in this situation.
Do you really need to adjust the height of your car more than once? I would say just get a good set of sport springs, tokico blue struts (H&R, Eibach, Suspension Techniques) and call it a day. The cost is less, and you dont run into problems with salt and water and other road hazards. Unless you really feel like youre going to be showing the car, where you want it it really low, i see no point.
I also dont see why he would need to upgrade all his fuel componets unless he is planning to run LARGE amounts of nitrous. A properly setup nitrous system shouldnt put that much more of a strain on the oem system. I would however suggest a Nitrous computer, either from NOS or Jacobs. One of these is imperitive to using the Nitrous as safely as possible.
Since its a 1.6 SOHC, i wouldnt push it beyond a 50 shot. But even with such a small shot, i would still go with a WET system, just for the added safety.

oh, one more thing....
Can someone post a picture of the 1.6L SOHC motor here....i want to see the airflow meter. At least on the Proteges, the VAF upgrade is from the 86-88 RX-7 non-turbo "B" series VAF. This mod is good for about 5-7 whp at the top of the powerband. If its the same as with these motors, i dont see how it would be of use, since i cant see the 1.6L pushing anywhere near as much air through as my 1.8L BP...so can someone please post a picture??

I have the ground control kit and love it. I adjusted it to the center of travel and had it aligned. This way if I go up or down the alignment is pretty darn close. In the summer I have it dropped pretty low. This winter I pulled it up a lil so not to get eaten by puddles. I like the idea of being able to adjust ride height. Just my two cents..

cool, but you guys are mistaken. Its the 2nd gen RX-7 NON-TURBO VAF that you want to swap. It has a large "B" on it. The install is fairly easy. Tuning is a little guessimation if you dont have the proper tools, which i didnt. Good luck.
