Yah i drive her pretty hard sometimes. but thats what i built it for. lol 8) should i just weld another studd in there and go about it the same way. or should i weld it right to the frame?

I haven't been in this situation myself, but if you weld it to the frame, I highly recommend you weld short beads with gaps in between, to avoid stressing/weakening the surrounding metal.

And so you can grind them off later if you ever have to do any work under there...

It sounds like welding another stud would be the better option. There are a few scenarios where being able to remove your crossmember is pretty important :roll:

hmmmm thats true mooneggs. but what would exactly be there for me to have to take the crossmember off.. i can do a swap without touching it. hmmm.


Edit: hmmm the steering rack??? what else? im tryin to think now haha.

Welding the trans mount member to the subframe will force you to remove the engine and transmission from the top to repair a clutch problem, which after a swap is quite likely to be necessary.

No way. I can do a clutch in 3 hours without touching the engine.

I have trouble lining up the transmission and clutch when its sitting out on the ground, nevermind in the bay...

hahaha yah i NEED to pull the motor if i wanna do the clutch. im always to scared ima mess up the splines or something. :P and plus i find it a hell of a lot easier cause i can pull the motor in like an hour.
