I could just start deleing usless posts/comments :)

It would piss alot of people off. I think alot of this thread would be deleted... and a few would be upset, and call me judgemental.

We do however see a user making stupid posts just to sell, I do delete them, and their for sale post. I warn them, and if its done again, they are banned.

I think 100 is a apropriate number to start to sell things.

I can see why the rules were put in place...

However -playing Devil's Advocate here- what if some guy off the street has a bad-a-- MX-3 that he's parting out and just found the site today. Are we going to screw him over (and ourselves) by not being able to buy his things if we wanted?

or if a guy is selling his MX-3 for $100 to get rid of it that week... I doubt he is going to want to wait 3 months to be able to sell it to one of us.

Get my point?

We may think we are helping ourselves- but we may end up screwing ourselves and missing out on great deals.

I say- remove the requirements and just buyer beware like always.

If you buy over the internet- then you need to be damn sure who you are buying from. If it sounds fishy, it probably is.

We just deny anyone who doesnt have 30+ posts to even post there. Any attempts to spam the board to up the post count, the posts are deleted and the user is warned. If they post elsewhere to try and sell, the post is deleted.

you guys are crazy.......I've been tuning my cars for 6 yrs(rs and gs), and only been on the board for a few months, so i can't try to get rid of some of the stuff Ive accumulated over the years. Extra body panels, interior panels, seats, two ze im's.
You people make it hard for new members to be apart of the board. I'm trying to recruite new members in my area to join the club. They all have parts to get rid of like me. I tell them to sign up here, and try to sell it on here, cause "one mans junk is anothers treasure."

I agree 100%. To me.. this is a community of friends and maybe even some worth considering as family. This site welcomes new members that want to be part of the community with open arms. Its not e-bay. Everyone on this site watches e-bay constantly for deals all the time. So IMO.. if people dont want to participate in the community.. let them sell their stuff on e-bay.. it will sell just as easily as it would here (maybe even easier).

My whole point with this topic was the intention of finding a way to hamper scammers and spammers that dont really give a happy rats azz about this community other than using it to line their pockets.

did I miss something? What are you paying for? No one asked me to pay for anything..... Most of the time people are just learning how to do things and read previous posts and use your invisible "search" function and dont have to ask a question, or for that matter have the knowledge to intelligently respond to someones question.

So what your looking at is for people to just come on to the site, go to a forum, and type mumbo jumbo 'cause they got to have so many posts before they can sell anything.

You might find yourself with a lot of useless posts, that will result in the hierarchy of this site deleting posts and saying "use the search function"...

Do ya see what I mean? You will be making more work for yourselves. How much do you guys pay?

He means that the site administrators have to pay all the associated fees with maintaining this website.. domain name, web server hosting, etc.. You cant post a site of this size on Geocities or Angelfire or Yahoo and have it work well. It would be slow and they would have to eliminate all of the "Searchable" content that they have accumulated over the years.

dont forget "we" is also referring to donating members, itts not fair to them either. Trust me, I dont mind deleting a post or 2 a day, the least I can do to keep peole from scamming/abusing the board. It takes 2 seconds to delete a post, and well worth the time.

I think your missing my point........Even with my limited computer knowledge I can achevie your "30 posts" in about 2 min....Scrap the idea.
Tunes wrote that this is a community of friends, yeah, if you've been here for years maybe. Seems to be quite harsh to new members.

I know people will try and spam to get the count up just to sell, doesnt work that way, if I see they are posting BS to get the count up and just sell, I delete posts.

It only seems harsh if a "new member" appears and immediately wants to sell something. Man, the number of scams and attempted scams penetrating this board were getting ridiculous until the policy w/30 minimum posts was begun. So is it a foolproof way to block every crooked seller? - course not. Seems to have dropped related probs to ~zero though. Not an ideal restriction but it does appear to work for the intended purpose. Maybe the post-minimum could be made an either/or thing - like either 30 posts or minimum one-year member. That would still impose the 30 post mimimum on brand new members wanting to post [FS] though.

In every other way, new members seem to be pretty well welcomed ... :)
