mitmaks-
I don't hate cops (at times i've been mad at them)I've been arrested three times, i've gotten numerous tickets...speeding, no seat belt, what have you, and i still don't hate them. But what i really hate though is immature ignorant people.
[ May 07, 2003: Message edited by: gmuffb ]

quote:
Yes, we can all complain about getting a ticket.
Things to keep in mind.
1. Police do not make the law, so complain to the
law-makers
2. If you want to speed, go to the track.
Plus, it looks cool to cruise around, slowly.
3. Keep in mind, the same police that pull you over, bust drug dealers, thieves, sex-offenders, and generally keep our world safe.
Just my two cents, in American dollars.

Um, cops are just people with jobs, like you and me. However, when you're given the power to judge, and you don't have the proper skills to manage that (which no cop ever gets), survey says it goes to one's head as a 'God like' attitude. Others who have this attitude are doctors, judges, politicians, etc. However, none deal with the public in such a way as cops do.
Just my 2 cents, as the Canadian dollar rises, it just might be 2.2 cents! :D
one

Absolutely EBUCKS,
A lot of people can become police officers.
However, without training you end up with cops that cannot do the job effectively. They cannot identify crime before it happens. In this day of job cuts and budget shortages, you end up will less qualified workers.
And let's face it...Bad things happen to good people.
The more we complain, the less we do, the less we do, the less things change.

But what can 'we' really do?
My solution for me and me alone (not trying to advocate this), is to stand up to them at all costs. To me this means stepping out of the car and dealing with them at eye level; letting them know that I know what I did was wrong, but don't push me (literally), as it is not professional, etc. I have let them get the better of me on occasion where I have raised my voice and yelled obscenities at them. Never let them think that they have pissed you off. It's a button that they will push more and more as the ordeal lingers.
Cops do help people all the time. However, for me they have been nothing but problems. Wrongfully arrested twice, thousands of dollars in tickets for garbage found in over 50 'random checks', accused of insurance scam when my car system was stolen, etc.
What you can do is get a petition to say that cops profile people. Here in Toronto, there's a case regarding 'racial profiling' done by our police. I fit the category I guess and lately things have been slowing down.
People, I drive my car like I deal with life; slow, however, my car and I look fast!
one

After meeting with a client at his home yesterday, about 2 hours from my office, i got lost and ended up in some itty bitty town. I got pulled over by the sherrif, and ticketed for an expired inspection sticker. I was in suit and tie, and i was really polite to the officer, not an a** kisser, but nice. I was in the wrong, i took the ticket, he asked me about my car, said his daughter wanted one. I gave him my Business card, told him that when i get this taken care of to give me a call and maybe we can do some business with no hard feelings. I shook his hand and drove on. Now when i go to court in this little town for the ticket, and the officer remembers how nice i was, and that i didnt make any fuss, and i get my sticker replaced like the cop said to do if i want it dropped, What do you think will happen? Was i happy i got a ticket? of course not, am i going to ***** about it, no. So mitmaks Grow up, get over it and listen to the people on this board. you can learn a lot. I have.
[ May 10, 2003: Message edited by: Ryan Dunagan ]
