Daewoo auto maker?

ok i was driving the other day and saw this hatch back, and the maker was something ive never heard of, i ended up forgetting what it was called so i couldnt ask anyone on here. Well i was at work today and looked at the microwave we have there and it was made by "daewoo" im almost positive thats the name i saw on the car. Anyone ever heard of them?<p>Thanks, TIm

k just did a quick search and it was a "Daewoo Lanos" I saw, I live in south western Ontario, never heard of that maker before the other day.

ya its beed out here for a couple years now, they have been in europe for a while now, and as u already knwo they also make electronics, but that stuff is mostly sold in europe ant asia

They have been out in Europe for about 9 years nows. Started off by using old Vauxhall(GM) designs and just updating them. Now make there own designs. They are from Korea i think. When first lauched in the UK they were independent and did`nt have showrooms. Think the were sold from a major UK motor repairers.
Don`t quote me on all these facts as I could be wrong.

yeah its one of the ****tiest cars i had a chance to drive both in europe and middle east,,, and first i thought its like peuogeots or renaults @ least, but maaaan they suck,,, And i ended up renting out an Audi TT and peugeot 206 in two cases,,,,
They have been around for @ least 10 years, korean made and they were known as family cars and thats what da name stands for or sometin, i drove all models of them from racer, cielo, lenos in a deawoo dealer toronto in thornhill. but anywho, the first two i drove were based on mitsubishi and one was very close to a model of pontiac in looks and had a pontiac (GM) engine too,,,,<p>I test drove em b4 i bought my lexus just to see how sucky cars feel,,, and f%^& they suck, they might be good looking or whateva, but they suck $#it,,, but to mention the only crappy car i testdrove and felt good was KIA sephia! its based on protege's engine and it was movin,,, i liked the move,,,, but they are all $#itty in my opinion,,,

Yeah, those cars are junk. My ex girlfriend had one and it was slow, noisy, and cheaply made. Of course she only spent like $7000 on it new, but for that price you could get a really nice used Mazda or Honda. Daewoo is a huge Korean conglomerate that also makes construction equiptment, appliances, tvs, computer monitors, machine guns, and a bunch of other stuff.

The actual owner of daewoo was in a bunch of trouble a few years back beacuse he was found guilty of all this financial fraud, don't really remember details but saw it on the news and after that me and all my friends started making fun of them, Pontiac has parts on there cars made by daewoo, i owned an 88 pontiac lemans (1st car) p.o.s. and it had daewoo parts all over it.

daewoo is worser than hyundai, hyundai is best korean car so far, but daewoo sucks as much as kia does, u know what, bush should rethink buying them junk cars from korea, he gives them bread and now theyre turning on him, man wtf, with their "10 year" warranty he makes lots of money for korea, now they saved enough on hyundais to get some nukes lol

I don't know man, I'd take a kia over a hyundai, but I'd take a pinto over either. Have you guys seen that hyundai luxury car? Now thats funny!

didnt daewoo file for bankrupcy a few years back???? my dad has one at his work and the thermostat housing broke and it took them 4 weeks to order the part....oh yea it wasnt covered under the warrenty either...<p>aj
