Re: automatic shift knobs?
If you put an aftermarket auto shifter in then the Hold function gets disconnected.
How often do you use your hold button anyways?

Re: automatic shift knobs?
Okay, my mx is manual, but I've driven countless other cars with automatics. Wtf is a hold button? You mentioned the 1 other button: that one is for getting outta park and stuff, right?
I'm confused,
T

Re: automatic shift knobs?
the HOLD button HOLDS the gear you select with the shifter.

Re: automatic shift knobs?
I thought that the hold button is like overdrive- dropping down a gear?
Anyways changing shift knobs really isn't that complicated, just go to Radio Shack or something a get a switch to hook the hold/overdrive up to.
Here's a pic of how I did my shifter curtesy of Andrew Pakula www.mx-3.com/meets/miss4/miss4-ap-17.jpg

Nice lookin setup steve. The hold button for the mx-3 tranny holds the gear you have the shifter selected in. For instance, if you have the car in the "2" position with the hold button on, the car will hold second til redline. Same for the "1" and the "3" (drive) position. It helps with acceleration on inclines and other areas where traction is an issue. The probe/626/mx6 trannys have the typical overdrive as opposed to the hold function. The only other car i've seen with HOLD are escorts.
Re: automatic shift knobs?
Thanx Shaun for the compliment.
Marshmallow you can cut it off and start from there.
William- First take off the existing shift knob.
the two wires for the hold connect to your aftermarket switch. Make sure it works.
My switch I have to push Twice for on and twice for off! That way it won't turn back on after the car is restarted.
ya follow?....Good
