90-93 work great. As long as the motor is the 1.6L you will be able to use it. You can use pistons, rods, crank, head (not worth it), valves, block, etc. You can't swap valve covers between the models. Intake manifolds fit but there is no real benefit to performance - lose of torque due to the short runners. A good hybrid is to buy a short block from a '93 automatic miata, this gives you 9.0:1 CR, swap heads and you basically have what I am in the process of doing during my rebuild. After '91, Mazda came out with a longer crank snout, reducing the problem with earlier ones to shear off. Have you checked your crank keyway for play? Do so before the motor goes in. I believe the 1.6L miata ended production in '97.

They stopped making B6 Miatas for the US in 94, but they still make them for Japanese Mazda Roadsters.

when did the miata motors go sideways? b/c dont they have an oil feed thing already drilled? and might be able to bolt in?
from they way things are looking right now itd be cheaper to swap in a miata motor, beef up the internals and boost it.
regardless, any motor swap isnt gonna happen till winter.
