Escort GT BP engine Rebuild info needed

Post by Typhoonk »

Hello, I've be working on an 1991 escort GT engine for about 9 months now. I've got the bottom end all cleaned up, and just need to replace some things.
Need some pistons, rings, bearings, and a gasket set.....
soooo in other words I need a full engine rebuild kit. So I was wondering if anybody new of a place that sold the kits for a good price. (preferably in canda) :2thumbsup:

thanks

If I were you I would find a good auto parts store/s ( check around for different part prices, you dont have to get all your parts at one store ,I have saved a good bit of cash by shoping around) and order high quality parts like federal mogal main an rod bearings, hastings rings ..etc, factory or felpro gasketkits are good also. Alot of times these parts are superior to the factory parts, Do it once an do it right is the way to go. I never trusted noname discount parts. I have been building marine an the ocasional automotive engines for years an never had any problems using good brand name parts. I am in the process of breaking in one of these engines now ,check my cardomain site, Runs like a Swiss watch , sweeeeet!

My BP just arrived today, and I've been wondering the same thing about which brand of parts to buy. For instance, www.partsamerica.com shows as vendors of pistons: AE Clevite, Beck Arnley, and Sealed Power. I have no idea if these are good or bad vendors. Does anyone have experience with any of these?

I have used sealed power products , they are made by federal mogal,a good product. clevite is another good one, the others I havent herd of, might be because I am in canada, an thier product might be marketed under different names or not sold here atall in canada. A good autoparts store should steer you in the right direction. check with guys who do work like this in your local area , word travels pretty fast when mechanics get burned by local suppliers.
