Can't put car in gear

Post by jamario »

My car had problems going in gear and I thought it was my clutch. But now my pedal has no pressure. Once I press on it the pedal goes straight to the floor and I have a ACT clutch. I was told since I have a hydraulic clutch it can be the master slave cylinder. What do you think?

Yup. Sounds like something not working with your hydraulics, could be clutch master cycl. or maybe clutch release cylinder? In any case, check for signs of fluid leakage in those areas, including all fittings and also bleed the system before deciding to replace any parts-- Any air in the line could give problems described.

Plain and simple, replace the slave cylinder, it's like a $30 part, if you have any mechanic experince, it's an easy job, remove 2 bolts, remove the hydraulic line, take out the old slave cylinder, then reverse the procedure with the new one, Then once the new slave cylinder is installed you'll neeed two people, one to pump the clutch, the other to bleed the hydraulic line, Push the clutch pedal to the flood, open the bleeder valve, close the valve, pull the pedal off the floor, then push back to the floor, repeat a few times, then bleed the clutch line like you bleed brakes, pump 3-4 times, bleed, and repeat until the pedal feels the way it should. That'll fix your problem, if you have any questions let me know.

It could also be your clutch line sprung a leak and the fluid is gone. That's what happened to me a few weeks ago. Had to replace the clutch line.

I also want to say that when I turn my car on and let it idle it's normal. But if I press the clutch pedal I hear a nasty grinding noise. Thanks for the replies

i had that problem wasn't my clutch turned out that my 5th gear was melted 4th was on its way to being like that 3rd had missing teeth revses was almost gone and that i crack my fly wheel and that i had almost no tanny fliud which is why my 5th when out along with my other gears as the fiuld slow drained away. sounded like **** nasty grinding sound in nuteal or in gear i had a 5spd. got it rebuilt replace fly wheel and put a dual friction center force clutch. i've had no problems since and they let me keep all the F&%K up parts them gears where F^$K was told who ever worked on it did not them back together right. thats my 2 cents on my tranny could be what i had or something different.
