Car idles very high with a/c on

Hey need some more help please.. when i press the a/c button my car idles very high, it goes from 750rpm's to 2100rpm's..... also a/c is not cold.... still have R12 in it... car is 92' 1.6L SOHC automatic 175,000miles... anyway any help will be greatly appreciated.. thanks again

your compressor has probably gone bad because i have the same problem because my compressor is done. Might wanna go check that out.Peace

Well I think its normal for your idle to change a bit with the A/C on because its using quite a bit of power .. but not that drastically...

your a/c does draw power from your car but it makes your car idle lower than normal. happens in my 95 DOHC 1.6

i have a 93 sohc and it was doing the same thing untill today i nabbed some 8mm NGK plugs

off a totaled protege and the external coil wire from a escort GT and bam

no more idle problems
