Unusual Sound

When my engine is running, wether its hot or cold it has a sound similar to a desiel engine, i have a small exhaust leak at the bottom of my manifold could that be the cause of the sound or is it somthing else?

that could definatly be your sound, or it might be your lifters, the lifters will tick loudly if old or not oiling up properly. and if it is a heavy deasle sound then its possable it could be a rod berring or piston slap. and to find that out pull your dip stick, or drain some of your oil and if its all metallicy looking then its definatly the berrings.
