Post by bakedyeti »

Sometimes when i'm driving all the lights on the dash will start lighting up and the car will start to slow down. it will still idle but when i press the gas it won't get any. and when i turn it off and then back on agian it goes just fine. this happen to anyone else? this has happened once when i was really pushing my car on the back roads and then once just driving 55 on a highway. i have no idea what it is.

Do you have a stereo system or anything else that may be draining your battery? If so you may need to check your altenator.

Hi guys, i`m a newbi in all of this, still learning about my car, but i have a lil problem, when the car is stop, and i put the volume up on the sound system, if i look at the rpm, is going down to 600 then going up to 1,200 and when i put the voulme down, it comes back to 1,000, i was wondering if it was the Alternator or something else?<P>My car : mx-3 4 cylinder 93'<P>thanks in advance<P> :)

WeSt: the short answer is that getting a bigger alternator should minimize this problem. It's mostly that your stereo is a big load for your electrical system which in turn puts a load on your engine, which then adjusts and overshots it's idle.<P>bakedyeti: You might have an intermitant/lose connection. You could try driving on bumpy roads to see if it happens more frequently, although it might make it worse. You can start looking for loose connections in the engine and passenger compartments. I'd save behind the dash for last, as it's somewhat difficult to remove.<P>tk1138
