Re: oil change...
i wussed out.. i couldnt bring myself to climb underneath the car with the jack AND a jackstand holding it up.. i was too paranoid of getting the squished face mod.. tommorrow i will roll the car up an incline, or maybe get some ramps..
anyway, where is the oil filter? i couldnt find it.. i found the drain plug, but no oil filter..
i feel like i possess a good amount of knowledge about cars, yet i cant handle an oil change.. so sad..

Re: oil change...
The filter is located beneath the intake manifold. Its possible to reach from up top but the grip is not very desirable and best to be reached from underneath the car. that way you have a stright shot just look up past your CAT and you will see it. Dont be affraid after you jack it up give it a good push to be sure its stable if its gonna fall it will then. BTW dont push like 200 pounds of body weight into it.. you dont want o push it off the jack just enough to be sure its secure

Re: oil change...
filter is on the back of the block, so you gotta reach up around the exhaust pipe to reach it. Ive never been able to get it from the top, but the BP has a different, and bigger intake manifold.

Re: oil change...
thanks guys.. im going to give it another go on the 4th.. im too ashamed to let this go!!

and while your here, i couldnt find any good jack points for a frame jack or any good locations for the stands.. any tips?
- eddie -
Re: oil change...
i finally did it.. rather than jack the car up i pulled it half way up a driveway so i had enough room to slide underneath the car... i felt much safer so i got brave..

also, i guess because my car doesnt have ac, i had an easy time reaching the oil filter from the top of the engine bay.. i just reached down in the and twisted it off...
today, oil hange, tommorrow, turbos!!

and for the record its a 17 mm drain plug..
- eddie -
