Is it possible to bore out a sohc 1.6L to a 1.8 or 2.0L and install a dohc and modify from there?

I am sure that you could bore it out, but the question would be if the crank would work. You would have to get larger pistons, possibly from a 1.8. The main thing is, are the connecting rods from a 1.6 the same as a 1.8? If not, then how would you connect the pistons to the crank? Would you try to take a crank from a 1.8 and have it modified to fit the 1.6 (highly doubtful that this is even possible), or would you try to have new connecting rods created? I am not sure what all would be involved with this, but I AM sure that it would probably be VERY expensive and probably difficult to figure out.
