fair enough haha. it would be nice to see some dyno results before and after of the maf swap. it's a hard choice too. Do you swap to a obd2 milli loom or somehow get it to work on obd1? Im thinking megasquirt PnP would almost be easier. you wouldn't swap the loom, you get performance increase and can tune it. best of all worlds. buying another ecu and loom would make it close to the price of ms.

I might try some different ecu options first. got a kl02 vaf and de ecu I can chuck in tonight.

I did my whole swap for $185

OBD-i to OBD-II Adapter Harness - $165

MAF/IAT/OBD-II ECU $20 Pick&Pull

So cost wise is still cheaper then MS for a PNP type, close to the price of the build your own MS tho.. Well we see if its worth it. Upside you get better scanning ability with OBD-II vs. OBD-I.

Need to bank up some $ for dyno pulls, and clean up the motor and engine bay.

I just swapped the ECU over to a spare DE I had lying around. Works really well considering VRIS is a little off and it's... for a DE not a ZE.

Car usually vibrated a little because of my AWR mounts but that's smoothed out with this ecu. Power after 3K has definitely improved, had a thrash in 3rd gear from about 4K and it went harder and smoother than I can ever really remember. When it makes you smile and feel like doing it again and again you know it's running good! Something must be seriously wrong with probinator ECU's if stock DE units feel stronger and have dyno'd more.

My CEL for o2 has gone again for now also but I reckon it will come back and have already ordered some new denso sensors from rock auto.

I'd love to do the MAF swap but honestly, here in Australia everything is a rip off. Our "U" pull it yards only have shite 1970's crap and people here still try to get a few K for the oldest pieces of junk. I can almost be certain that a loom + ECU + MAF sensor here would cost more than $300-400. It would be more beneficial to get MS pnp one day for me.

There is another option, there is a guy from Russia that makes a VAF to MAF adapter for 200 bucks. But would still be getting you close to the ms price point.
