Projector lights fender gap

Post by mitmaks »

I've installed my projectors and they just have ugly 1/4 gap to fender. I took stock rubber weatherstripping from factory lights and glued them onto fender. Would like something better looking.
Anyone who has projectors, how did you deal with this?

The projectors in my car had the same problem until I adjusted them. That meant using a piece of water heater hose that I wedged between the front cross member and the inside front corner of the head light forcing it forward. With the light properly adjusted with this rubber in place I have virtually no gap at the fender. I plan to fabricate some thing a little more finished looking but for now it works fine. I'd take pics but my car is buried in snow right now.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

vertical LED headlights right..?

i've been saying since forever that they have a fitment problem, but no one ever believed me for whatever reason. the ones with the horizontal lights are a much better fit.

i think what you've done, mitmaks, is as good as you're going to get it looking

Yes, they are vertical ones. I can't believe there would be that much of a difference between them. Aren't they manufactured at the same plant?

i dont know for a fact but rather doubt they are made from the same place. i don't have the horizontal ones -- always preferred the look of the vertical ones and just lived with the gap. but seen the others in person, and tons of ppl on here that have them. i've never seen one complaint about the fit for em. they're differently (better) shaped, plain and simple

I guess I might sell these on here at a discount to someone then and get myself horizontal ones then.

Or maybe a straight swap ? Pretty sure some people here want the vertical over the horizontals.
I myself have the horizontal one's on my MS front and there is still a bit of gap by the front, but the no fender gap.
I guess in this case you win some and you lose some

Ideally I'd like retrofit projectors in stock housing

im sure both vertical and horizontal projectors are made by the same factory in china....

Yeah a funny story about these headlights.

i have the vertical LED´s and when i first installed them is when I had my OEM front nose and there was no gap at all. Fit flush just as stock did. I bought a corksport front nose and the fitment was still flush although the bumper fit like crap. Now that i finally have a true Mazdaspeed front the head lights have a huge gap under them. Never took them off this whole time and the mazdaspeed front fits perfect. So i too have had to now put a thin piece of old window rubber around the bottom and to the top side of the fender. Looks good still and unless you owned an mx3, or i told you, or had the attention to detail you would never even notice.
