Need help with finding a resonator for new exhaust

Post by Wooters »

I'm getting ready to do a ZE swap! I'm ordering all new exhaust for the engine but need a little help. I'm going to run pacesetter headers, cat delete, and Super 40 series flowmaster muffler. I'm going to need to run a resonator also to help quiet down my exhaust but i dont know what to use.

PaceSetters, Super 40, and quiet?

That combination will yield gains in power, but will be far from quiet I'm afraid. It's very hard to get the best of both worlds(silence, and performance), but I honestly feel anyone looking for quiet wouldn't be super thrilled with the 40 series Flowmasters.

I've only heard them on 2 cars in person to date, and one was before/after a "resonator delete" project. The resonators didn't change the volume level at all that I could tell, but there was noticeably more rasp after removal.

You may want to look into other muffler choices if loud isn't your preference. The 40 series is popular, and I personally think they sound alright, but they're not the quietest by any means.

im not looking for a quiet exhaust. It's just that a friend of mine told me that this would be a good setup for me. He said that i should also run a resonator to help with lowering the amount of decibels that the exhaust would put out. If you know of any other exhaust setup that i could go with that will be benifical for performance, plz let me know. Thanks

I replaced a magnaflow resonator with this one. http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/i ... _1033_1055

Reduced engine drone on the hwy by about 1/3. They're polished stainless and are a real high quality unit. In Canada you can find them for $99 less in the States.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
