MX-3 for all tastes

Hello guys,
i was just thinking how much work would be necessary in order to change our favorite car more into a dream car , modern and keep the MX-3 spirit alive.
I will be searching a similar topic, but let's see what i can come up with-

A convertible Mx-3 ? not my taste
A diesel Mx-3 ? not my taste
An electrical MX-3 ? loved it, but still hard to pull off a good all electric car
An hybrid Mx-3 ? that is just perfect
a 6-speed Mx3 ? my dream

any more ideas ? or comments on these ?

RWD, V6 or V8 would be nice. Balance it like an RX8, and rework the rear bumper.

Better transmission would be nice.

to me - 6 speed ; Hybrid ; RWD

Why do you want a hybrid? I'm curious if there is some performance factor of hybrids I don't know about or if you want better fuel economy?

I always picture my mx3 evolving like a pokemon into a Porsche 944. Fully built turbo KLZE in the front, LSD transaxle in the back (6 gears?), SE interior kept the same, mazdaspeed front bumper. We can all dream can't we?

RobMinhas, my taste on hybrid's happens just because i consider them a turning point for our minds. We can´t all just drive a gas powered car one day and 100% electric on the other. Performance wise, take the example of Honda's CRZ ... even do it has both a low power and CC engine together with a low power electrical engine, driving it makes you feel the car is soooo muchhhh faster. If you could put let's say a 30 bhp electrical engine on the 2.5 V6 ... you could have either 190 bhp or 225 bhp with a very high MPG. And the power from the electrical engine comes from 0 RPM

Ummm YES PLEASE! My dad almost had me talked into a 4.6L swap into the MX but then I went AWD

Why put all that in there with 8MPG at best when you can turbo a 1.8L make more power and get mid 20's mpg

Really my dream would be a 2400lb 240ish HP (at the crank) RWD 2.5L V6 with a 6 speed trans that gets about 28 - 32 MPG Beggars cant be choosers

i dont get the appeal of hybrids. there a small "advance" in technology towards cleaner cars. yes they work, yes they make less emissions and better mileage then the average car. but they are not that much better (if any) then properly built high efficiency pure gasoline engines. burning the fuel is only 1 part of the equation, drag, aerodynamics and tires would have a much larger impact on efficiency/greenhouse emissions then purely an engine alone. not to mention desel engines can be just as clean burning and get better mileage then hybrids. you also have to factor in the environmental impact of making and disposing of the batteries hybrids use. the chemicals in the batteries are highly toxic.

honda is trying really hard to bring hybrids to sport cars. first with the crz (lame) and now with there new nsx. the heavy weight of the batteries and electric motors take away everything that people loved about the original nsx and crx. super light weight well handling cars are what they offered, now its super heavy fuel efficient semi sport cars? i just dont get it.

until the general population is ready to drive cars that look like this, high efficiency is going to stay on the back burner. fyi this civic gets over 100mpg on the highway and has more storage capacity then any hybrid. its also a 20 year old car with adapted designs from German cars from the 40's if i remember correctly. its also quite possible to get 100+ mpgs out of old geo's.
