MX-3 Steering Rack Removal issues

Post by juggernaut1234 »

I have a 93 MX-3 with a KLZE swap and I am trying to replace the worn out steering rack. I have all the mounting bolts off, but need to get the steering shaft bolt off (the shaft where the rack connects to the steering column). Where the bolt is apparently, is covered by a metal housing. Are there any tricks to remove that cover to gain access to this bolt? Thanks!

Are you using the workshop manual?

It's hard to tell which bolt you are talking about. Does this help? http://www.mx-3.com/manuals/showimg.php ... _N-020.gif

You should switch to a manual rack then you wont have a problem with it wearing out, cleans up the engine bay and not mess cause they all leak at some point!!

Awesome thanks! I finally thought to check there soon after I posted that, don't know why I didn't think to check there before.

I need to go pick up a manual for the next repair, but that picture was a big help. Thanks again!
