After the kind of job you did with the blasting, I would've recommended powdercoating, or at least VHT...

Powdercoating would have been sweet but pricey here as I checked into it. What's VHT?Inodoro Pereyra wrote:After the kind of job you did with the blasting, I would've recommended powdercoating, or at least VHT...![]()

VHT is a kind of rattle can paint from DupliColor. You apply it like regular paint, and then cook it (you can use a regular oven), so the end product is somewhat in between regular paint and powdercoating.AaronTietje wrote:Powdercoating would have been sweet but pricey here as I checked into it. Just be careful to open all your windows while you're cooking it. That sh1t stinks.

bead blasting seems like it will be awesome because you feel like you're really doing something the proper way...then after about 3 hours you realize that bead blasting sucks. lol
I may have spent too many hours blasting

Yeah, I don't doubt it's tedious... still, knowing your car will be rust free for a long time is worth that tedium, no?

Lets just say it's not the worst I've done. When Julie (wife) and I moved back to NY state we lived at her parents for about 3months while we were closing on our house.Calg_93GS wrote:cleaned up those parts really good! tho, the gf would have my nuts on a silver platter if i ever tried spray bombing something in the house lol

I just did some more blasting on Friday. I didn't have time to get a pic of the sub before I put primer on it, but the whole thing looked like brushed aluminum when I was done. Here it is in primer.

You know all that bead blasting must be pretty costly, if only you had an intake you could sell so you could do the rear subframe too....
