I agree that it does seem to be that lighter colour, just bad lighting in the top pic...
But I reckon that top pic looks like the OEM Mazda 323 dark blue colour:
"Deep Ocean Blue Metallic" (so the website calls it)

"Midnight Blue Mica" (what I've heard it called more often...)
