Are front and rear wheel Hubs interchangeable?

Post by MrMazda92 »

I'm in need of a rear, and am curious as to why RockAuto only lists fronts for sale. If they're identical, they should say so to avoid confusion.

Thanks!

Which part exactly do you need?

I'm pretty sure they're NOT the same, not at all. They probably don't use the same wheel bearing.

rears come pre-assembled with the wheel bearings. they are different as far as i know. maybe try looking for rear wheel bearings?

Mike is correct... Thank you for the heads up!

Rock Auto definitely doesn't take the cake on that price though. $200+ is a bit rich for my blood. Any brands you all like or dislike for the bearing/hub assembly?

I prefer smooth spinning junk yard rear hubs.

In the rockauto parts catalogue I always go 1993->MX-3->1.8L then under "Brake/Wheel Hub" if you open the "Axel Bearing and Hub Assembly" sub section you get the rears. If you open the "Hub" sub section you get the fronts.

For my fronts I bought bearings from the Dealership for $60 and had my local garage press them in for like $30.

I may make a JY trip tomorrow, if the weather is half as nice as it was today. January 3rd and I was driving with the windows down... I love this city.
