EPROM Emulator tuning

i stumbled upon this way of tuning on probe talk last night. http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701220008 im assuming this is how probinator actually programmed his chips? i couldnt find much information other then that thread but it got me curious. im thinking the tune on my probinator chip is bad as im having horrible gas mileage and the car is running extremely rich with no apparent cause. i could get a emulator for roughly the same price as a klde ecu and vaf and actually have control of my tune and figure out whats going on and correct the problem. this seems like the ideal way to tune for N/A and im surprised not many people are actually using it or talking about it.

any thoughts? its obviously not as good as megasquirt but then again it costs 1/4 of the price. being able to adjust vris points, fuel maps, timing and more in real time while driving, for a little over $100 im surprised this isnt the most popular topic on the forums...

i know eh. not knowing anything about tuning im kind of turned off from it but my curious side wants to learn. im sure i could at least get a stock ze tune (assuming mine is off), which will hopefully solve my problems, itd also give me the option of getting it tuned professionally down the road...

It's cheaper than brand new MS, but I still think I'll go the MS route... Definitely more potential(so far as Ican tell) for down the road tuning.

ive been emailing back and forth with stoker 100 over the past few days and he is going to make me a new chip. from what he is saying you can do almost as much as ms with the emulator. the benefit of ms is been able to remove all the unwanted/unnecessary sensors, and probably a more easily understood programming knowledge. i read in his car domain page that he was planning on supercharging or turbocharging (low to moderate boost) his ze and using a stock ecu with the emulator to manage everything. i dont know if he actually did it or if its even possible, but its an interesting way of tuning. the research that i did into the subject is that emulator tuning is fairly popular with the honda crowd. im just not willing to risk learning it at this point in my life. maybe if i had a better understanding of fuel management and programming but i just dont feel ready to take my engines life into my hands (just yet).
