Availability Of K8 Or KF piston rings

Post by bloodred »

Hi, I'm considering doing a quick refresh of my K8ZE to get another 100000km out of it (it's done 190000km, and it's starting to get smokey and use oil). Either that, or a quick refresh of probably equally worn KFZE I can get relatively cheap.

However, I can't find anyone who sells either K8 or KF piston rings (or pistons either for that matter).

Any leads?

(KL upgrades are out of the question at the moment for insurance reasons)

I don't know the availability in NZ, but you could convince someone in the states to send you a set. So if you can't find anything locally, I can purchase some and have them shipped to you

Rockauto doesn't list them anymore, and IPP seems to be dead (but will try them again in a few days time).

However, I'm wondering about using Honda D16/D17 pistons. They are really common and cheap and are available in about 9 different pin heights/dome configs. Can anyone tell me the K8's pin height and I'll have a look through the specs to see if any match the K8 close enough.

That's very generous of you, thank you, but can you even get them?

Did you get anywhere with the honda piston details? Im looking to keep my k8 as well and keep searching but find nothing.

also... whats the chances we could bore 3mm out and use kf pistons in the k8? lol just food for thought.
If me and my goal are both "alive", then it IS possible. Anything can happen as long as there is will.

btw... the k8 and kf are the same stroke with a 3mm difference in bore. lol itd be easier to get a kf, i know. but thats the only thing i could think of as far as oversizing the piston goes. :?
