I like where this is going... by non-gs lip you mean aftermarket?

I picked up Mx3Baker's lip, cost me just as much as it would to get a gs one, and I think this one looks 100 times better.

So originally I started to today with plans to swap my winter treads off finally and do some work on the fiances car, however on pulling my drivers wheel I found an inside pad at about 1mm, so needless to say new hardware for both sides...
Image

Image
So after being Side tracked I ended up removing my old "custom  " foglights (pre-euro lamps) to make room for better things....

Image
So I wasnt able to primer the whole car as planned with the brake job, but I think this was well worth it, GS lip has nothing on this baaad boy!

Best money ever spent on a car with 200k :D All new shocks/mounts&springs with some new tires. Its nice to approach a corner with confidence again

Image
Compared to before I really like the stance, the front treads are tucked just enough with some space in the back compare to where it was. Best part is it all aligned perfect, 0thurst with only a .6degree out total in front camber of which I'm still debating addressing as I like the handling. Just a slight bit of roll that could be corrected some proper shocks but those will have to wait, otherwise I love the springs, not near as harsh as I was lead to expect.

So the other day I got really tired of my headlights looking like this:
Image

After thinking about it for a bit and deciding I was tired of the 55watt bulbs and the yellowing so I decided to fix both with this!
Image

The basic idea is running an independent relay for each bulb for high and low filament to provide ample current to keep the heat in the bulb and from melting down the plugs once the higher wattage bulbs are in place. Ideally youll want 4 30amp relays, the easiest types will have a 85/86/30/87 circuit. and some will have an 87a circuit but that is one you will not use.
Image

The ones I used had an 87a (this circuit has constant power so its a good idea to keep it blocked off). this was my solution with an extra connector and some electrical tape.
Image

Power leads to relays (x4). these connect to the 30 circuit and I ran a section of red wire mated to the yellow leads with built in fuse holders that I ran 25amp fuses to prevent damage.
Image

The headlamps have their own grounds now that go direct to the battery that I ran in 10g to match the rest of the upgraded wiring. The trigger leads below that go to the 86circuit however can use regular wiring as they only provide enough power to flip the switch and can be run with spades right back to the relays-see below. The ground circuit thats shown in the original plug I left free and does not need to be connected.
Image

Final product! 4relays, two high with white leads, 2 low with yellow leads (these will connect to the 87 circuit on your relays), I shared the ground ( circuit 85 green wires) for the relays with a high and low based per side on the idea I wouldnt run both at the same time. Ideally I suppose you could do the same with the power side but I figured It wouldnt hurt. Oh and use zip ties to keep it clean, that way you can install it all in a minute and with using spades on the stock plugs you can easily revert back to the factory wiring if you ever blow a relay and dont a spare.
Image

Enjoy brighter lights!

This was more a way to allow me to run 100w bulbs without melting the plug leads. There was plenty of light with 100w I just dont feel the 55w are sufficient. Not to mention this way Im not dazzeling other drivers by running hids on stock lenses. Its amazing how much light output is available with just some cleaned up wiring.

Plus keep in mind these are the glass lenses with H4 bulbs, they shouldnt be yellow like that, thats just 19yrs of old wiring with too much resistance.

Plenty of light, no need for HID plus I can still go up to a 140w bulb with this setup If I am still desperate.

So what do you do when you go for a drive and your car starts stumbling. Drive to work one CEL flash for a code 17 and you check for leads and plugs and fuel and still have a massive miss isolated to the #4cyl.... Oh and after pulling its codes and swapping plugs it has given up on life.

My plans for a 2.5L swap just got accelerated me thinks....
