What do I need?
So I am still learning as I go about cars. I have been searching for awhile but there is not really a beginners section for this category. At the moment I don't know a hole lot about this category. What I'm asking is what all would I need to achieve this look on a mx3? Also if someone could point out some valid pros/cons/risk.

Re: What do I need?
Coilovers for a start.
Rolled arches, as in the inner lip rolled up out the way.
16/17 x 8/9J lower offset alloys.
stretched tyres
camber bolts
Pros> it looks awesome imo, less tyre sidewall flex with the stretched tyres.
Cons > its expensive!

or stance/stancing whatever, aslong as you dont go crazy with the stretched tyres
and still have full damper travel its not dangerous, mine still handles great

15 x 8J ET15 wheel with 195/50/15tyre , rolled arches and 100mm+ drop

Re: What do I need?
So far so good on the info guys! keep it coming
. It being expensive is not that big of a worry to me. youdirtyfox, could you explain what the "8/9J lower offset" means? Ryan , what all is dangerous about it? I can see that it doesn't give your wheels much up and down room but other then that I don't know anything else bad about it. a stiffer ride will not bother me that much as the roads where i live are pretty nice. I do not plan to do any type of speeding. Also I thought "hella flush" was just the awful negative camber? For me it's just a common look I see in a lot of jdm drift events.
Which parts are the coilovers exactly? I can get the fenders professionally rolled for free, so that's not a issue

Re: What do I need?
8J is how wide the wheels are as in 8 inches wide. Lower offset as in ET which will move the wheel centre out, and the stretched tyres
to get the tread back under the arches.
Coilovers suspension will replace your normal suspension strut tower with fully height/damping adjustment units.
I still have full travel and a smooth ride, although the bottom of the car grinds going up my driveway
coilovers are around $1200 a set and you will wanna budget that again for wheels/tyres
to get the tread back under the arches.

I was looking at something like this for rims. how is the "195/50/15" measured? Other then the coilovers, what else would be needed? Would I have to take them apart and replace them with softer/lowering spring?

Re: What do I need?
you need atleast an 8inch rim with a ET/offest of 15 maybe lower, people spend alot of time
calculating wheel/offset sizes to see what the biggest they fit under there arches, there is no hard or fast rules,
you go too big and you'll need big arse camber to get them back under the arches again
coilovers dont use lowering springs as such, the shock body is threaded so by winding that up/down on the bottom mount you acheive the desired height.

Re: What do I need?
Alright so first is rims and tires, and coilovers. What do you mean big a$$ camber to get them back under? Couldn't the fender just be reshaped a little bigger? Also you said I need 8J width, could i just use wheel spacers on 7 or 7.5 so my wheels are not so close to the coilovers?

Re: What do I need?
Yes you can pull the fender out a little more, not too much though as it will distort!
my front fenders have a slight flare to them although this happened naturally when being rolled.
Big a-- negative camber will do \ to your wheel so the top of the tyre
will be under the arch to pass certain laws etc
you can use spacers yes, but its better to get the right wheel to begin with imo

Re: What do I need?
Its dangerous because you're stretching a tire on a rim that is too big for it. People lose beads with proper sized tires.
It handles like s--- because you have no suspension trave, which is important for any sort of racing except on glass smooth tracks.
youdirtyfox is right though, with proper coilovers, you fix the travel issue. Your geometry is still way off though, you'll get bump steer because the tie rod centre is off, you'll wear the s--- out of your tires even if you can get it back into camber spec because the scrub radius is hell, and a half dozen other things. Your roll centres are off....
