Jack Layton

Post by Daninski »

Difficult to find words to describe, he was a true Canadian.
He never stopped thinking of others even as his end drew near.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

He was a good man. I don't agree with all of his political rhetoric but I believed that he had Canada's best interest in his heart and that he was good. I can't say that about most of his colleagues.

Pisses me off that Canadians can't see past the obviousness of the PC party and at least create a government with real opposition. Government doesn't work without opposition.

Why's everyone making such a big deal out of this? People die every day. He just happens to be somewhat of a celebrity.

He just happens to be someone who devoted his life to making Canada a better place. It's a big deal because if he hadn't died he might actually have gone on to be one of the truly great men in Canadian history. He was one of the few politicians who was actually a decent human being and genuinely cared about the people and the integrity of government.

Igor, your usually very well informed and your comments on this forum reflect this however this time you just out and out let me down. :( Now go and read up on Jack Layton's history then come back and possibly recant this statement. :) One way or the other I still love you man.

I was pretty sad when I heard this the other day. I think he was a genuine person who really actually cared about Canadians, sad that passed away :(

Thanks man but I'm just not into politics. From what I've seen, they all seem like nice guys until they become in charge. That's the thing about human nature - people will always abuse power.

You make a valid point.
"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely".
Lord John Emerich Edward Dalberg

To add to the above quote I would like to add, "To be able to look back upon one's past life with satisfaction is to live twice".
I think Jack was able to do that, we should strive to achieve the same.
