Hayward, CA auto repair shop

Post by dmac »

anybody knows of a good place to get my car fixed around the area? Problem may be the timing belt has broken(friend told me) but not so sure. I saw in the forums that it takes a lot of work to get this done. I checked with one auto repair shop and they're charging me $650 for it. Please help.

hey thanks for the response. does the $550 you mentioned usually include the whole timing belt kit (timing belt, water pump and other)? i e-mailed a few shops around my area and just waiting for them to get back to me.

i haven't used this car in a long time(probably around 2 or 3 years now) and just want to get it running again.

oh and i thought i posted here on where i live (Hayward, CA USA)

No that's just labour. Now I have to say the shop I deal with said they would charge $280. My point is shop around but stick with long standing reputable shops. If your engine has 200k+ then we usally change the water pump as well. In saying that only buy a new pump, not reconditioned. So you can't do the job yourself. Takes an entire day.

dont be afraid to call your local dealership to get a quote too. Atleast that way you have a solid ground to base your decision on when you can compare one shop that you know will do it 100% w/factory parts in your area vs the local shops. IMO Ild just take a day and do it myself, I did mine in the advance parking lot the first time, so I have faith anyone can do it
