Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
So, it's raining here, so naturally I have my rear wiper on. Gets to a point where the rain pretty much stops, so I turn off my rear wiper. Seconds later, it starts up again, even with the switch off, and won't stop.
Sooooo... I pull the fuse from the panel, the wiper stops. BUT, so did my heat and blower...
Does anyone know why my wiper would get a mind of its own and when I pull the fuse to stop it, the heater and blower decide to go off too?
I'm at the point now where I put the fuse back in, because I need the heat, and propped the rear wiper up so it waves to everyone.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
Short circuit, likely it's in the switch. I'd get a wiring diagram for the unit that controls it, and bypass the switch. If that fixes the problem, get a new switch! I'll sell you my old one
The horn/Cruise Control are removed, and the switches jiggle a bit. You'd be able to use it for parts though, if you don't mind the time.

Not to dis your intelligence, but are you sure you don't have it on the intermittent setting?
I always put it back in the wrong position...

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
I am talking about my rear wiper. As far as I can see, I turn it on, or off. Or a little further to squirt. Whenever it rains, I turn the rear wiper on, it wipes about 5 times, then automatically goes in to an intermittent mode.Ryan wrote:Not to dis your intelligence, but are you sure you don't have it on the intermittent setting?

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
Ya, mine has never gone constantly until now. it would come on, wipe a half dozen times, then go once every ten seconds.Mooneggs wrote:are you serious? an intermittent mode for the rear wiper?? I'm going to try it tonight

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
mine has an intermittent setting? It goes every 10 or so seconds, and you can't adjust it like the front, but its for sure not constant...
I'm actually super pumped about our wipers. Intermittent, 1 and 2, and spray for the front, and intermitent, 1, and spray for the back...
Get in a lesser vehicle -> 1, 2, spray for the front. WTF. I live on intermittent wipers. I HATE people who put their wipers on full blast in a drizzle. Morons!

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
it will be in the switch, a friend had the same problem and we swapped out everything we could except for the switch which was the last thing the troubleshooting guide said to try. he does not live in town and he was going back to mazda to get it fixed since they did a repair on his car and it started to have this problem right away. so i do not know if it got fixed or not?

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
yeah I was stoked last night... I learn something new every day!! I've been driving mx-3's for 10 years and I just now learned that if I leave the rear wiper on it keeps going every 10 seconds... just one more reason to love my car LOL

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
Hmm ya, I never use the rear wiper so its news to me as well. Why would we use that wiper anyway, leaves a wiper mark on the rear window, distracts from the look.

Re: Magical rear wiper, WTF!?!
Because there's not enough angle on the rear window and the water just sits there, then everything is a blurred mess. That's why.
