Merry Christmas and a happy new member

Post by ThetaSigma »

Happy Holidays and all that stuff.

I'm Theta. I'm a total car noob, though I'd like very much to learn more about my lovely MX3. She's a '92 auto that I purchased approximately one year ago with about 63k miles. She doesn't have many functional problems, but a reasonable amount of aesthetic issues, like loose door handles and a rainy leak from god knows where -- makes living in Oregon quite a pain sometimes. I love my car to bits, I do!

I have a car-tastic to-do list, the most notable of which are such little things as finding someway to brighten up her dingy headlights, stop the leak wherever it is, and get a new master window switch -- sounds common. :D

Other than our apparent shared love of MX3s, I'm a geek of many dimensions. Music, mathematics, astronomy, chemistry, video games, did I mention music?, Doctor Who, and cooking. And oh yeah, music. And tea and coffee as well. I work at an entomology lab caring for ginormous sphinx moths (the ones seen in Silence of the Lambs), I love my kitty but she hates riding in the car (unlike me) and I maintain an aquarium with a few fish (Ziggy Stardust and the Guild of Calamitous Intent) and a whole lot of algae. They're not great at riding in cars either.

Now, since a car can't be converted into a TARDIS, if any of you know where I can get a flux capacitor, please let me know.

You sound like an interesting person... We have an Portland Crew on here, they'll find you I'm sure.

All of the problems you list are common.

master window switch, check the FS section or post a WTB
the leak is very likely clogged sunroof drains, if you have a sunroof.
Headlights are fixed with new headlights (glass EDM lamps or projectors) or a polish. use the search to find polishing tutorials.

A loose doorhandle will be a missing/corroded retaining nut. If you pop off the door panel you'll see how it works - handle is held in place by two nuts.

Look into getting an additional cooler for your automatic, they are prone to failure and your had relatively low milleage, may be able to keep that one go for a while.
