What engine do i have

i have a the camera but it does no good when the engine is in the car at my uncles so i of course gotta go there to take picture so may as well see what i could figure out while im there at the same time kinda waste of gas to go all the way over there just to take some pics that may or may not be useful

ps so i need a photo bucket account to post pics on here i was trying to figure that out

these 2 are what i would have to say i think resemble mine the most but the part that makes me unsure between the 2 is circled


i tried to get rid of the dang wight area around the photos numorous times and ways sorry but whats the difference between the 2 circled in red

Did you check your head codes? Is that a pic of your motor (the red car), if so that is a K8 intake manifold.

i hate to sound dumb but where can i find these codes would they be in an accessable place

you can find them on just about everything in the engine. Mine is a K8 & has K8101 stamped on the air intake,MAF, the piping to said intake, the manifold, heads & a few other places throughout the engine bay... just take a quick look...
Here's a pic of mine, i've marked roughly where i found the markings on my engine, just from memory, so some might be wrong...

Also, the search function works wonders. Thats how I found out what mine is. Pretty sure there's a sticky or two with almost this exact title...

Just because it has a K8 stamp doesn't make it a K8 ONLY part. There are K8 stamped parts on KL's too.

I'd only look at the head codes. If you know where it is (I do) the block can also tell you, but it's hard to spot and in a crappy spot. KL is a 2.5, K8 is a 1.8 or 2.0.

no neither of these pics are of my actual engine
hopefuly i can go up to my uncles soon so i can get some pics of my car and try to locate my headcodes while im at it thanks every1 for the help so far

well yesterday i finally got out to get a look at my engine and snap some pics it was night so i couldnt really get any good pics but i did see on the intake a stamp for k801 but heres the pics i got

People put K8 IM's on KL's all the time, but I think you're searching and hoping to have something that you don't

yeah i wanted to check there but wasnt really able to cause it was dark so it was hard to see down there and i understand that some people put the k8 im on the kl

ok so i finally got a chance to take a look and found the stamps today it is the k8 wich is what i figured i had atleast now i know what engine i have for when it comes time for me to get any parts

the other day i was messing around with my car under the hood and i went to check my oil would there be any significant reson for my dipstick to have kl01 stamped into it? I know all a dipsticl does is measure your oil level but it just rose a question does any1 think the previous owner may have put a k8 head on a kl block and why, is there any benifits to doing so?
