ac?? smoking and hissing sound PLEASE HELP

Post by amber lynn »

Hello everyone, I am new to the MX-3. I have had the car for about 3 months and have noticed no real problems except for the air doesnt get very cold and when the air is on I have no power or 'get up and go'. Yesterday I started my car and turned the air on to cool things off. Went to grab something out of my purse and the car started smoking from the hood. I turned the car off and by the time I opened the hood the smoke source was no longer smoking and the smoke was clearing, but smelled slightly of rubber or plastic. Also the car was making a hissing sound and I was not sure if the sound came from by the belts ( below the belts the hose was slowly dripping some water ) or if it was from the front part of the engine. Today I started the car and there is no smoking but the air is hot, and the water in the radiator and resevour tank are kinda rusty colored.
What is wrong with my car???!?!?!?!?! PLEASE HELP

I think you might have a small coolant leak somewhere, it will evaporate as it escapes and if it's a small leak it'll make that hissing noise from the pressure. As for the rust color I'm not sure... maybe it's just old coolant?

Thank you, someone is telling me that they think that it might be oil in my water, but I checked my dipstick for the oil and there is no water in there. I am scared that it might be a piston or they are also saying that it might be the head gasket. I am just so unfamiliar with these cars and feel stranded
