Easy Question

Post by rchie14 »

My name is Roman, live near Denver, Pennsylvania, anyways my friend has a 1993 MX3 1.6L SOHC, and his 5 speed gave out on him, gears 2, 4 and R, don't work. Now for some good news he found a totaled 1995 MX3 with 1.6L DOHC engine and 5 speed tranny, I plan on doing the swap for him and I would like to know if the DOHC engine is just plug and play with the SOHC harness. Thanks a lot, I'm sorry if this is commonly asked I just couldn't find another post.

The DOHC and SOHC are significantly different. There is a lot of swap information in the 4Cyl FAQ section. Read everything in there and you’ll have a better idea.

The tranny does swap straight in though if you’re looking to get the car back on the road easily.

shoulda picked up an Escort GT instead. that bolts in, for +42 hp. I'm actually not joking, I realize it sounds a little sarcastic.
