Third Gear Problem

Hi! Am new here so hello!

I have had my MX-3 for 4 years now and love it and have had no major problems with it until the past few months with a transmission problem.

The gears work fine apart from one problem, it wont go from 4th gear to 3rd. It will go from 2nd to 3rd gear, but never from 4th to 3rd, or 5th to 3rd.

Strange still when the car is staitionary and with engine running it will go from 4th to 3rd fine, problem only occurs when im driving it... is a strange one, anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? as all the other gears work fine and no problem what so ever!

Sounds like 3rd gear synchronizer.

Have you tried double clutching into it? That will confirm that it's the synchro.

I havent tried Double Clutching into it no, will try that tonight! Thanks for both your help, sounds like it could be the 3rd gear synchronizer.

See how it goes and how expensive to fix, oh well, be worth it

Tried the Double Clutch way and it still wouldnt go into 3rd gear, so looks like it needs some work done to it then will get prices now... hope it wont be too much!

Strange. If you were able to double-clutch into it that would confirm the dead synchro, but either you still missed it or that leaves variables.
