Hi, I have been told that my autobox pipes need replacing on my 1994/5 mx-3 1.6l automatic.
Can someone explain what they are and how they can fail (apart from leak)
The car is also using Loads of fuel even for an automatic It does around 15 to the gallon!!!!
Any help or advice very welcome, Thanks.

Re: First post newbie Question
Did they explain what an "autobox pipe" was? I have no idea what they could be referring to.

Re: First post newbie Question
Well if the transmission was on its way out, which is very likely, it would also burn more fuel.
For most, its a big deal to swap a transmission, and most can't find a decent replacement.
Go ask them to clarify exactly what they're talking about....
Do you know any symptoms, or what the car is doing, aside from using lots of fuel?

Re: First post newbie Question
I believe this is a UK terminology thing.
Only thing I can think that they would be referrign to is the transmission oil cooler and/or the tubing from the tranny.
Wombat,
It's a pair of hard aluminum lines which divert transmission fluid from the transmission to a small radiator mounted at the front of the car. That would be a small yet likely expensive job that a do-it-yourselfer could handle but a shop will charge through the teeth for.
