Head unit question.

Post by AaronTietje »

Hi, I just removed a factory cassette player from my gs and put in a new head unit. Anywho, I had to wire the constant and ignition power wires together with the corrisponding headunit wires in order to get it to work.............

It works fine, does not discharge my battery, and made my dome light work??????

The negative side is that I have no memory in my head unit or guage cluster clock???

(Only problem with my car)

Thanks Aaron

You blew your ROOM fuse, check it in the fuse box.

Sounds like you wired both your power and constant to the ignition power wire. Did you use an aftermarket wire harness? By using that, it will give you the ignition power(red) and constant power(yellow) wires separately and you will have your memory in your deck.

yeah you should be able to get an aftermarket wiring harness. I would never go splicing into the stock harness. Just got to Best Buy or a local shop and ask them for the harness. I know when I got my harness I went to best buy and they sold me it.
