What is the best color to paint a MX3? (no ricers)
2 years ago I repainted my MX3 black with 2 stage paint
It looked great
But than, the clear coat started pealing so now I am going to repaint it again, but this time with single stage paint.
No big difference. One paint looks wetter and lasts longer than the other (2 stage)
Anyway, I dont want to paint it black or white because dirt or scratches show up really easy.
I was thinking of painting it red like on the MX3 on MX-3.com with the MazdaSpeed kit. As a matter of fact, last year I bought a used Mazda Speed style bumper for really cheap.
Does anyone know the paint code of the red MX3 I am talking about?
However, i'd like to hear some of your suggestions.
I am not looking for anything fancy and ricey. So no pearls or colors that dont look good.
If any of you have pics, that would REALLY HELP OUT

I have to agree, black is a pig to maintain. I think silver is a good dirt hider. Even the red hides it much better than black. By 2 stage paint do you mean 2pack? I've been looking into doing this myself, I've only worked with cellulose so far.

You apply the paint first
Than you apply the clear coat

Re: What is the best color to paint a MX3? (no ricers)
I would (I will actually, when I can buy mine) paint it any bright color but red.
It's not that I don't like red (I love it, especially on the MX3), but I know for a fact cops target red sport cars.
About the bright colors, it's not that I'm a ricer, but for me it's a safety issue. The MX3 is a small car, and, at least here in Miami where people drive doing anything but paying attention to the road, I want my car to be as visible as possible. Orange or yellow would be my options.

Fan of:
Titanuim grey
Tank/army green
White with a lil blue pearl (look at jutzi's car)
Not fan of:
350z blue or anything similar
Orange
Stupid green
Any colors even close to resembling something that would be used on a old school bowling ball or a competition bass fishing boat

I'd say blaze red or gunmetal metallic. I also find myself thinking about what color to paint my car, and it's between those two colors.
Oh, and about red cars and speeding tickets, i found this interesting article

What's wrong w/ 350z blue? I know its REALLY flashy but by itself I think it looks nice.solo_ryder wrote:Fan of:

That was one of my colors I liked, besides Black and Montego or Winning Blue.

Although it's hard to beat this, which is why I like this color too:

Sure the blue is nice. Just not really on a mx3. That is a modern color, I think for modern cars. You dont really see it on older cars. That is why I think that it doesnt suit the mx3, just like orange doesn't either. Alot of newer cars are orange now too.
Maroon or a really dark red is nice

You're right solo_ryder: orange and blue are modern car colors...

Lol, ok so you have a bunch of old fart cars and a overpriced lego machine lambo.
Where are all the mass produced early 90s cars that come in a 350z blueish color and some kind of burnt orange color, also reminiscent of the 350z?
I don't think you understand my post, its not impossible that those colors dont appear back then, just saying it is more common nowadays for newer cars.
But that's ok. I was just stating my opinion, to handle it or not is your choice

Re: What is the best color to paint a MX3? (no ricers)
I understand where you're coming from - staying stockish look is what I want from my mx3. But w/ my new projector headlights, mazdaspeed bumper and the wheels I want to get (not to mention all my custom interior mods) my car has very newish styling. I don't think blues are ricey unless they're baby/powder blue. Black is my #1 choice, but I know it'll be a pain to maintain, not to mention the paint will cost more to get done being that the body needs to be perfect.
