What happens if you bypass the throttle body?

The two coolant line that run to the throttle body, what happens if you dont hook them up to the T/B?

Has anyone tried to put a 5.0L Mustange throttle body on a MX3? I believe they are 65mm.
I know for sure that they are bigger than the KLDE/ZE T/Bs

People have done it, I did it but out it back due to idle issues.(the iac wont read anything)

I also had a bored out throttle body and had high idle issues. I swapped to stock and decided to go turbo instead. Best bang for the buck I could have done for power.

There's also a wax in there that melts when it's warmed up, it helps control the idle.

yep, I'm currently runnig a bypassed TB and I have to use the defrost to control the idle since the IAC isn't reading anything. I think I am going to hook it back up since it is annoying

In the instructions for the thermospacers they say to bypass it, but then also say that if it messes your idle up, put it back connected.

Yeah. The simple answer is that it will make your idle fluctuate like you were revving to get a race, but a little slower. I had bypassed mine when I was in Houston, and was driving to Austin and back in the summer. It helped with bogging in the extreme heat, and didn't annoy me too much, since I had the stock exhaust. However, if you car is loud like Mooneggs', it will probably make you want to slap a baby, or kick a puppy.

anyways yeah with my car being 92 dB loud it gets very annoying.

So why do some bypass the T/B again?
I highly doubt there are any gains

It warms up the throttle body and causes the intake air to get hot.

It would be nice if we could somehow separate the iac from the throttle body but let it stay in the coolant path, but it would be a whole lot of work for very little gain.

I dont think it makes that much of a diff, the TB is so small, it would just get the heat transfered and IM. That would help if you got the outlaw spacers, but I dont think the TB is larger enough to make a big diff, and you'd be better off isolating the IM off the heads and it should keep the TB cooler as well. I don't think there's enough heat coming through the IAC TB to heat it up significantly. I'd bet that the main source of heat is from the motor, that moves to the IM and the TB though the heads since it's all metal.

You can't isolate the IAC from the TB since the IAC needs access to the air flowing through the TB to be able to control the idle. It would make the IAC useless, so you'd be better off removing it.
