steering wheel and other options

Post by cdub92 »

i tried to search for this and came up empty. rekognize's p5 steering wheel got me to thinking and i was wondering if anyone had used a steering wheel from a mazda 3. i know they have some other controls avail which may or may not work but they would definitely be easier to find than p5's. i was also wondering about the shifter knobs from the 05/06 models with the chrome and stitching. again, just wondering if anyone has tried or knows for sure one way or the other on both.

I really like the diameter and size of our stock wheel. But that is just me... I wonder if i can get it reconditioned some how, i got some cracks on the top part, probably b/c of sun abuse.

I've had pretty good luck finding decent ones at junkyards... probably easier than fixing a bad one

I got one from a '98-ish protege and even thought it's bigger it just feels so much better for some reason.

The only problem I ran into is that the horn buttons are connected differently, but that's ok because my horn stopped working a while ago anyway.

Honestly it's not that bad, I rarely honk. Maybe it's different in Chicago, but there in Toronto people tend to only honk when they absolutely have to. If I want someone to notice me I just rev the engine.
