Re: Yea about this
That sounds like a great deal. FInd out how much he got it for, and why he's selling it so cheap. I'd jump on it.

Re: Yea about this
My dads trying to continually talk me out of it and he got it from a coworker that owed him money he says. I really need to get an airtank over there so I can test drive it. I could have it as early as saturday the 5th. It would be a deff power upgrade from what i was driving considering it was only running on 2 of 4 cylinders. Im more than likely going to buy it because I need a vehicle like now and i found a donor car for parts. I might go look at this fiero for 500 but ive heard they have ALOT of problems in the engine bay.hmmm.....

Mx3>>>>>>>>>>>Fiero, hahaha.
Seriously, take lots of pictures and either post them here or give us links we can help you. Make sure you take pictures of the engine bay (close ups help), undercarriage, and any problem spots you think might exist.
Unscrew the back hatch plastic pieces where the speakers are, and take a look at the strut mounts. If they're not rusted through, thats good. Check to make sure the coil springs aren't broken. Make sure the electronics work, etc.
AND CHECK FOR RUST EVERYWHERE!

Re: Yea about this
I FINALLY got over there to take some pictures and to test drive it and theres a spot in the back under the middle of the carpet which the paint is bubbling really bad.Rush maybe?idk cuz i hit it and it didn't crack or anything. While im looking for the pictures all im gonna say is it drove EXTREMELY weird.first off it idles about 2k but when you let the clutch out in neutral it drops to about 1500-1750.we got it out of the guys driveway and took it down the street.about halfways down the street it started actin jerky but only if you changed gears.we pulled into someones driveway and the engine would drop to 1500 the back up to 2500 then back down and back up unless you were giving it gas and moving. To check the engine a little better we started driving and gave it a bit more gas and it ran like a bat outta h***.but when we shifted it popped and we smelt something funky.I got about 5 pictures of the only things that seemed unusual looking

NOW what do you think??lol

Re: Yea about this
Body looks clean - thats good. Did you check the wheel wells/undercairrage for rust?
The trunk area bubble stuff is a rubber coating. All MX3's have that AFAIK.
The blue stuff around the TB suggests to me that they tried some sort of sealant to stop an air leak, and the erratic idle tells me that the air leak is still there, or that the TPS is not set right, idle screw is wrong, IAC is malfunctioning/sticking or all of those things - all easy to fix, unless your air leak is coming from the manifold gasket, which is still easy to fix just slightly more complicated.
You will need to drive the car more to figure out what the jerking is you speak of. Check gear oil if its popping out...does it shift OK or is there ridic amounts of play when in gear? You may need to replace your shifter bushings.

Re: Yea about this
I know the bushings need replaced and would a crushed fuse do anything to the idle?i can get it this saturday and begin work on it(and i dont have to work this Saturday thank god.)the bushings are really bad but workable.trans doesent grind at all and engine revs quick.like i said before the bolts on the front right strut mount /core supper or w/e are new so we think its had a fender bender but the title is clean. I looked under it and it looks clean and rust free(thank god).do they make a gasket for where the blue stuff is and in the shape its in right now do you think it would be drivable about 15 miles or should i throw it on a trailer? I think im just gonna wait to mess with the idle till i get it home if i buy it.do you think maybe a fuel line blockage or clogged filter would cause a repetitive and constant throttle bump like i was describing earlier? If all of the things you said were wrong about how much all together do you think it would cost?the springs and struts are good with no rust around the wheel wells.what do you guys think?buy it or no?

Re: Yea about this
What bushings are you referring to? They are all prob shot from the car being so old, but unless one is almost gone it would just make the car a little sloppy.
How much is it again?
You should do a full tune up, this includes new plugs, wires, fuel and air filters, change the oil, check gear oil (might even want to replace it), when was the last time coolant was changed? Also look into running a fuel injector cleaner and putting seafoam in through the brake booster line, but 1 thing at a time. The TB gasket can be had from NAPA or rockauto.com I believe. Check/set timing, this is easy with a timing light.
With any setting of timing or idle, make sure to jump a paperclip in the diagnostics box - do a search for more info.
Good luck!

Re: Yea about this
Yea hes only wanting 300 for it.so im probably gonna get it.it most definitely will be a little bit of work to get running good. it wud have to be in the garage unless i was driving it because like i said the windows busted out on the right side. how hot should these things run?Im just curious because the temp guage said it was runnin pretty cool but when we opened the hood it felt pretty warm.might have been its just a cold day or maybe not.i could still put my hand on like the valve covers and intake manifold and such and not be too hot.i know this isnt mx3 but how many pounds of boost do you think an old civic w forged pistons and maybe a new cam could handle.im thinking about maybe creating an experiment over the summer with a big rig deisels turbo since i could probably get one for free, and i dont much care for the honda.

Engine bay on this car gets quite warm. 300 is a steal, I'd buy it just for parts!
