anyone ever build a k8 with forged internals
been searching for a little to see if anyone has every takent he time to actually try to build up a k8.
i know its more cost effecient to swap in a klze but i think it would be quit intresting to have a strong k8 something no one else has or something that is quit rare.
has anyone ever tried to turbo a k8?
i cant find anyone that has even tried to have fun with it.

Re: anyone ever build a k8 with forged internals
People have done it, and people have turbo'd the k8, but IMO and mostly everyone elses onthis board, if you have the money to put forged internals in and get headwork done, WHY ARE YOU BUILDING A K8! At least get a DE they're cheap! 2.5>1.8.
Don't do it! I see nothing cool about building a smaller motor "just because". Now if the choice was to put in a ZE or to turbo the k8, well, I'd turbo the k8 if you have the money, that way when it blows, you have all the turbo stuff for the ZE/DE!

A really well constructed turbo DE is just about as rare as a forged K8 and more potential. There are lots of half-assed DE-T's, build a really solid one and set yourself apart that way.

A DE swap is more or less a ZE swap. Search, you will find all answers on what you need to swap it! As for what internals to get, check probetalk.com...they may have some advice on building up a DE.

Re: anyone ever build a k8 with forged internals
The Probe GT has the same transmission as the K8. AS for the DE swap, I'm not very knowledgeable. It has been done many times though. I'm guessing the major difference between the ZE and DE swaps is in the ECU.
If you plan on building the motor anyway, you could go pick up a junk yard DE for a couple hundred bucks. Make sure you get the engine harness and ECU as well as the MAF and as many other sensors as you can. Who cares the mileage or condition. As long as nothings bent or broken, you're golden.

If you're going to be building a motor, you should get an engine management system, rather than a stock ecu...otherwise exactly what wytbishop said is correct. It's CHEAP.

k8 is great for d/d, dependable, economic, quiet. If you want power go with de or ze

I don't know. A KL should be really no different in terms of sound and dependability. As I've said, my ZE was better on gas than my K8 was....mitmaks wrote:k8 is great for d/d, dependable, economic, quiet. If you want power go with de or ze

Re: anyone ever build a k8 with forged internals
haha, bp is certainly easier to work on, I just love the sound of the v6, plus it has more power from the start! Def. a heck of alot more work though, my 4 banger was so simple!
