Auto shifting issues

Hey, so I have a 96 mx-3 v6 auto.When I am in first gear and it shifts to second, it seems like the first gear is a little sluggish,then just as it shifts into second,it friggin GOES. Like it hops into second,like it's being jerked forward. This happens fequently from a slow start, less from a fast start.
Can anyone help me on this.?

You sure its just not downshifting? I thought the autos stayed in second gear at a stop, and if you need it to, it'll downshift to get up and go.

Only if HOLD is on.

Thanks..hold is not on,it does it sporatically,depending on how fast I accelerate and temperature...
