Arrrghhh

Post by nightfire »

I HATE WORKING ON BRAKES.

I installed two new rear calipers last night, and they didn't include the crush washers. I tried, hopelessly, to reuse my old ones, and even got one of them to stop leaking, the the passenger side is leaking like a sieve.

On top of that I was alone so I couldn't tell for sure where it was leaking from. I thought it might be the bleeder valve, so I tightened it more .. then .. SNAP. :crying:

Luckily I had a screw extractor so I was able to get it out and use one of my old ones.

Then it turns out that one of my new SS brake hoses is defective.

And now it looks like I've stripped one of the brake lines. They're original and in terrible shape.

Sigh.

So now I'm off to take the metro to Canadian tire to get brake fluid, 2 new brake lines, crush washers, and another brake hose. :(

I feel your pain, I spent a good 5-6 hours today and yesterday re-wiring the whole driver's side front harness. I cut off a partial harness at the fender at a junkyard and had to solder all the wires to my harness, some colours didn't match, and I still have some wires that go nowhere because my stock one was hacked beyond recognition. All that was to fix my cooling fan and reverse lights, the fan and lights still didn't work. :x

Then I spent at least 3 hours today bent over the fender and upside-down inside the driver's side footwell trying to figure out why my fan wasn't working. Then I had to wrap the harness I hacked together while it was still in the car so it's ugly as hell. The fan works now, I ended up having to run a wire from the ECU connector to the engine bay fusebox, but the reverse lights still don't work and my horn stopped working, even though I get voltage to the connector when I press the button.

And my temp plates expire Tuesday, I can't renew them anymore and this car is in no shape to pass safety and emissions to get normal plates. :(
